"Creative Troubleshooting Night"

It was "Creative Troubleshooting Night" at the March meeting of the lafcpug

Appearing were Diannah Morgan, author of the brand new book, "Creative Titling with Final Cut Pro. Diannah will show Creative Titling tips and tricks.

Also appearing was Philip Hodgetts from Intelligent Assistance who showed us Live Type.

Also Part 2 of "Troubleshooting your FCP System" with FCP Guru, Larry Jordan.

And finally another round of Stump the Gurus, Show and Tells and oh, yeah.. World famous Raffle.

Join FCP Gurus, Ken Stone, and Andrew Balis, plus special guests Steve McCraken of Homerun Media and Philip Hodgetts of Intelligent Assistance as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCP. If they can't solve your problem or answer your How 2, then you get your pick of the raffle table. Of course you still go home with your problem but you get your pick of the raffle table.

7:20PM - 7:30PM - "Adding a Dream Look to your movie" Tip/Trick O' the Month - Jake Benjamin
Recent graduate from Fitchburg State College in MA, Jake Benjamin is currently interning at DigitalDomain here in LA and on his way to taking over the world. He is a former student of Charles (Chawla) Roberts. Jake will show us how to add a dreamy look to your footage with one hand tied behind his back and no net.

 

 

 

 

7:30PM - 7:55PM - Creative Titling with Final Cut Pro - Diannah Morgan
Author of Creative Titling with Final Cut Pro, Diannah Morgan will show us tips and tricks on, uh... getting creative titles out of Final Cut Pro. Well, what did you expect?

 

 

 

7:55PM - 8:05PM - "Chip Monck" - Jud Pratt - Show and Tell
On February 20, lighting designer Chip Monck was presented with the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award. He is known as the "Voice of Woodstock," having been roped in by the promoter who neglected to hire an MC. He is infamously known for giving the warning about the "brown acid" in the movie.

This short video, which was shown prior to the award presentation, is a brief biography of Chip's professional career working with acts such as The Doors, Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones, the Ali/Foreman fight in Zaire, Broadway shows "The Rocky Horror Show" and "Divine Madness," as well as perfecting the concept of the sports stadium as a music venue.

Philip Hodgetts of Intelligent Assistance gave us all a brief look at LiveType and cool things you can do with it.

8:55PM - 9:20PM - Troubleshooting your FCP System Part Deux - Larry Jordan
Due to overwhelming demand, FCP Guru Larry Jordan is back, this time with more tips on keeping your FCP system healthy and what to do when things go wrong. Larry will also provide phone numbers for mental health clinics in and around Los Angeles for those who express interest.

 

 

 

 

 

9:20PM - 9:30PM - "Love Supreme" - X.Dean Lim - Show and Tell
"Love Supreme" - A project from X. Dean Lim - writer/director of the satire "The Yellow Truth" (downloaded 100,000 times since Nov. 03). "Supreme", a song by British artist Robbie Williams, is the first music video from the Lim who has never studied writing, directing or film-making in any way. Shot in the last week of March, many of the synch issues were solved through the Los Angeles Final Cut User Group forum.

"Awake" is a student project that pushes Final Cut Pro creative capabilities to the limit, with complex composites and various FXs.
