"The ProMax Digital Cafe comes to lafcpug"

Join us as we bring a little bit of NAB to lafcpug. The famous ProMax Digital Cafe will make a stop at lafcpug, May 24 bringing with it the cool new "toys" everyone is talking about. Booked so far is Ted Schilowitz who will tell you all you need to know about the most talked about camera since the Kodak Brownie, RED. Plus Pino Barile will show off the brand new Matrox MXO. Plus Keith Hatounian will show off the much talked about PictureReady! from Gallery. Plus Apple's Steve Bayes will fly down from Cupertino and show off mobile field editing with a Macbook Pro and an XDCAM HD from Sony. (We hope) Plus Jeff Laity of Tascam will show us how to set up and use the FW-1082 Audio/Midi interface to control Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack and Logic. And they will be giving one away as part of our World Famous Raffle. Plus more. Oh yeah, plus Stump the Gurus and More.

Agenda

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join FCP Gurus Christine Steele, Larry Jordan, and special guest Guru, K.D. Gulko and Steve McCracken as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCP. If they can't solve your problem or answer your How 2, then you go home with a problem but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:45PM - "PictureReady!" - Keith Hatounian
PictureReady! is the latest revoution from Gallery, offering the ability to record picture into a QuickTime movie, but with that Movie available immediately for editing as soon as recording BEGINS. Additional picture becomes available to editors in the background automatically as the recording progresses. Really! Apple's Keith Hatounian will show us. Keith will also be in the lobby at the break showing off a 17in.Macbook Pro running FCP 5.1. Screaming!

7:50PM - 8:10PM - "Matrox MXO" - Pino Barile
Matrox MXO
is a handy external box that takes the DVI output from your Mac computer or laptop and converts it to broadcast-quality video. You can preview your Apple Final Cut Pro projects or the output of other QuickTime-based applications such as Apple Soundtrack Pro and Motion, as well as Adobe After Effects as they will actually appear on TV and record them frame accurately to tape - no drop frames, no repeat frames. You can also use Matrox MXO to provide flicker-free recording of Keynote and PowerPoint presentations, web browser sessions, and software application training. Pino Barile will demo.

8:15PM - 8:40PM - Red Digital Cinema Camera - Ted Schilowitz
"The idea behind the RED camera system is simple. To design and build a high performance digital cine camera with the quality of 35mm film and convenience of a camcorder. RED delivers unmatched image quality with no recording system limitations. Introducing the RED ONE camera, the world's first large format digital camera with integrated recording. Ultra High Definition in the palm of your hand." Ted Schilowitz, "leader of the rebellion"will show and tell.

8:40PM - 9:00PM - Break
This is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved. Michael Buday will be showing off Syncvue which you have to see to believe. Keith Hatounian will be showing off the 17in.Macbook Pro running FCP 5.1. Intelligent Assistance will be in Lobby selling their latest creations and past lafcpug DVDs. Larry Jordan will also be in the lobby selling his books and DVD. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

9:00PM - 9:30PM -Mobile Field Editing with a MacBook Pro and XDCAM HD - Steve Bayes
Due to health problems Tim Wilson of AVID will NOT be able to appear to show off what is new in the AVID world. Tim will be OK, but we both feel it is best if he stays home, recovers and then reschedules a visit to lafcpug. Instead, FCP Product Manager, Steve Bayes will fly down from Cupertino and show off mobile field editing with a Macbook Pro and an XDCAM HD. - We hope

9:35PM - 9:55PM -Tascam FW-1082 - Jeff Laity
"Jeff Laity from Tascam will be showing the FW-1082 Video/Audio Controller and Interface acting as a front-end for Final Cut Studio. Its transport, shuttle wheel and motorized faders work seamlessly with Final Cut Pro, and the touch-sensitive faders can write keyframes on the fly. The MIDI controller mode is ideal for Motion, allowing control of effects synced to music or real-time color correction. It also acts as an audio interface and digital mixer, replacing several pieces on your desktop at once. TASCAM will be giving away an FW-1082 to one lucky winner at the meeting."
