Print To Tape interrupted by Ethernet/Appletalk

Posted by Brad Theissen
Anyone else annoyed when doing a Print To Tape when it halts, with no Greeting Card error box coming up on the screen...

Then you unplug the ethernet cable and try again, and it doesn't halt...

I have enjoyed using Appletalk since at least the late 80s, but I am anoyed that something connected with that pretty yellow ethernet cable is interrupting something causing my Print To Tape to halt.

Another Post-It note reminder to do something before doing something else with FCP.

Way back in the early days, when I was working in the film-school lab, we always turned off Appletalk on every single machine. I wasn't even aware it existed on OSX machines -- haven't heard people refer to it for awhile. But we've always had trouble with FCP whenever Appletalk was on.

Yeah...it's there in the Network Settings...and should be turned off.

The hardcores don't even have their systems hooked up to the internet. Primitive perhaps...but this used to be the norm, so it doesn't surprise me.
