Export Audio for CD

I want to export an audio file from FCP time line and burn a CD that will play on consumer CD players. An aiff file burned to CD is not working. Im setting the sample rate to 44.1. I need to know what file format to export the audio to and if that file can be copied to CD and the burned. Thanks

Never give up, there is always a solution

AIFF *is* the way to go. But if you "burn" the CD by dragging the file onto the CD on the Desktop, it will be burned as a data CD and that won't play on consumer players. You need an application like Toast or iTunes to burn audio-format CDs. Even then, some players have trouble playing CDs burnt from computers. To play on my car radio, I have to put my computer-burnt CDs through a dual-well CD dubber and use special CD stock, the kind that reads "Music".
