FCP to compressor relationship???

Posted by Andrew Mula
Hey guys,
Justrecently when I export from FCP to Compressor, the following error has been occurring when I submit my batch 'Cannot submit Batch. Unable to connect o background process.'
It doesn't matter what compression format I use nor whether its one or five different formats simultaneously.
What may be causing this???
Thankyou
Andrew

That's one that has been seen often, although I can't remember the exact problem. It is something like the ProAppsKit or something like that.

Who remembers?

Um. something about ethernet? Being connected to the internet, I think?

The solution was to upgrade the pro apps, in any case. Free download.

another solution was to un-install everything,
then re-install in a custom order.

i think the order was basically install everything else,
then compressor last.

you could try just un-installing compressor and re-instaling it.
might work?

Nick,

Yes, that was also a fix but now with the master installer included in Final Cut Studio you can't vary the install order. I wonder if that was a way for Apple to overcome issues like this?

I'm sure i've done that (varied the install order)
in fact, i'll go on record and say, yes, i have done that.

from memory when you put the first disk in, there is an "options" button you can press

i wish i could verify, but for the last few months i've been living with the scary fact that i cant find my FCP5(Studio) installer disks.

Hi Andrew,

Have you seen this?

"Compressor - Cannot submit job from Batch Window"

Hi Ken,

Will try this.

Hi Andrew,

Let us know if this fixes the problem.

Ken,
I tried disabling the antivirus software (nortons) that didn't seem to work, couldn't quite work out the disk utility disabling it refered to (what's disable journaling?)
Anyhow, I stripped all traces of Compressor and did the reload thing.
Vola. I can import straight to compressor or export to compressor from FCP.
Perhaps my preferences were corrupted?
Thanks for your suggestions
Andrew
