Installed Updates -- now FCP won't work

I just installed a bunch of MAC system updates... now FCP won't start up -- it unexpectedly quits each time.

Any advice? Is there something I need to un-install?

Just had the same problem with 5.04 updated.
I trashed my caches in user preferences and now seems to work fine.
There are instructions for this on this Forum under FAQ-

I'm running 4.5. I did that (trash the preferences according to the FAQ).. but no change in result.

You might want to do a "search" in this forum, the situation has come up several times in the past six months. Updating FCP then it quits on error.

The fix deals with one or more system resource files FCP looks at.

I just searched on "updates" ( at the top of this thread) and got 504 hits... all of the first page were on the situation you described.
