no audio in viewer FCP

the clip is there from my timeline (double click to get it) but no audio do i have something turn off -there's audio in my canvas which is able to play the timeline fine i don't get it -i've looked everywhere help?

That is odd. Never heard that before. Try this:

Shane's Stock Tip Mantra: If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:

1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the appropriate version of FCP Rescue at [www.pistolerapost2.com] and run it.

2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

3) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

Do you have the video and audio linked? If not, double-clicking the video part of the clip will not also load the audio into the viewer.

Make sure that the speakers are hooked up to the deck (or camcorder) and not the Mac. Hook up your video monitor/tv to the deck as well. Check: View Menu>External Video>All Frames. Check Audio Video Settings: are you in DV NTSC FireWire?

If you stay hooked up this way, you'll rarely have trouble with audio.

If you do not, you may get confused if you are not super-tuned to the way FCP handles a/v output.
