G5 HW question Dual/Single

Just so I am sure...

I see listings for Apple G5 1.8 (or the other 2.0x versions)...

Sometimes I see 1.8 and DUAL 1.8 .

Are all G5 (towers) dual, or do I have to be wary of single vs dual designation at any speed?

Another side to that question:

Are there additional HW speed differences between a G4 and a G5?

Is a single 1.8 G5 comparatively faster or slower than a dual 1 G4?

Apple has - I believe - always offered one single processor G5.

For G5 - G4 comparisons go to www.barefeats.com

"Is a single 1.8 G5 comparatively faster or slower than a dual 1 G4?"

Duals only really "show their stuff" with apps that are designed to use them, like FCP. Still, I'd say that the 1.8 G5 would beat a dual 1 G4. But for FCP etc., always get a dual if you can. Also, make sure you get a machine with PCI-X. Some of the G5s don't have it.
