fcp 5 fails to open

Whilst working in fcp5 all my projects went off line, i reconnected all the media, saved everything then shut down. When I tried to open fcp after that nothing would happen, i have tried even opening a project directly from the ext. hard drive (where i keep all the media) and still nothing...i have a an edited project which i need to deliver by monday and i need help guys...

Download FCP Rescue and run it. It trashes preference files that might be causing this to happen.

AFAIK FCP rescue will only work if you have already backed up a "good" set of preferences with it. So in this case you will need to trash your preferences first, then you can use FCP rescue to back up the new set you make. So to trash your preferences follow the instructions in this link.

actually, FCP Rescue can also simply trash the existing prefs, too.

reading the article explains what it's actually doing,
but if you want, it can all take place in the background.

gotta love FCP Rescue..

it might not be the answer to your problems, robin,
but it's a good place to start.

There is a real possibility that one of the opened sequences you had in your project (before closing) now has a corrupted file/files. There is a procedure I used to help me out of the same mess just last week on this site - go here:

It was a bit tedious, but it kept me from losing a half hour show that would not open.
