FCP HDV capture to Avid Adrenaline system

Hi all

I'm being asked to capture footage from the infamous JVC JD100 for use in the Avid Symphony.

What would be the proper transcode setting to get the footage into the Avid system. Is OMFI files sound right? They don't want quicktime, for some reason.

I have Avid Meridian uncompressed, and others, as one of my compression choices.

Any info or recommendations would be appreciated.

Any reason you cannot capture this footage with the Avid? FCP captures everything as quicktime, not OMFI. The rule of thumb to follow is capture with the edit system you intend to use. Any other way leaves you open to all sorts of issues.

But, if you must...

Test. Try with the Meridian codecs. If that doesn't work, capture native and export it all using the Animation codec. Then the Avid will import that and convert it to OMFI that it can work with.

But seriously, rent a JVC HDV deck and capture with the Avid.
