HDV to DVD 16X9

I have been in the biz for sometime and just started using the sony
HDV format to make cycling vids that will be delivered on DVD. I have
a couple of questions.
1. What is the best workflow to keep the native 16x9 format intact,
while keeping the best quality. I have tried several things and the
video seems to still be aliased by the time i get it to dvd?

2. Is there a simple way to output directly from the FC timeline to
DVD for the above mentioned

Look forward to HELP!
Michael

the best thing i have found to do to maintain any kind of quality going to SD DVD is to finish your sequence, create a new uncompressed sequence (anamorphic) and drop your HDV sequence into that. then export a reference movie of that and open that in dvdspro.

quality still in my opinion isnt as good as a well shot SD video...
another reason i dont shoot HDV.

Another way is to play out to DVCProHD. Drop that straight into DVD SP and build. It doesn't need to be converted to SD.

Whatever works best for you for the moment, because all the current methods are work-arounds. Hopefully soon, we'll be getting Blu-Ray disks and you can then playout HDV straight into DVD SP (it's already set up for that) and burn HD.
