i just tried to capture footage via a sony trv 900 camera(final cut express) and here 's the message i get:
"an error occured while configuring wuicktime using the current capture preset. please quit final cut express and check your hardware configuration"
no later than yesterday i was still capturing with that deck and it worked well, any idea what could be wrong?

Strike one. Did you recently upgrade to QT7? There are two sweet spots: QT7, FCP5, and Tiger is one and QT6, FCP 4.5, and Panther is the other.

People who split the combinations have troubles like yours. "My camcorder is no longer recognized."

Try to get back to QT6. Enough people had troubles that I believe Apple made it possible for you to do that.

I first upgraded to 10.3.9 in september and right after that i had to upgrade to quictime 7 for final cut to function normally(video wouldn't display anymore). until today i never had issues while capturing... despite that do you still think Q7 might be the problem?

would stepping up to quicktime pro solve the issue?

When everything is working right and you change nothing and then FCP goes South on you, try trashing the FCP Prefs.

what do u mean by reboot? restart or these are two different things. are you actuammy talking about re-installing mac OS. wouldn't trash quicktime and re-install it do?

thanx

After trashing your QT prefs, restart your Mac.

No reinstall whatsoever.
