Is it true you can load HDV via firewire without a Blackmagic decklink or AJA kona? The card is already capable w/ FCP 4.5/5

Correct, HDV transfers over firewire, no need for HD-SDI.

The Decklinks and Konas are useful for seeing your HDV timeline on a HD display or recording to a HDCAM etc.

"The card is already capable w/ FCP 4.5/5"

4.5 won't do HDV, 5 will. No problems getting the footage via firewire, just be carefull to pay attention to the wierd delay between your capture window and the deck or camera, whatever your capturing from.

good luck!
