What is a GENERAL ERROR

Im running fcp 5 and I keep getting a GENERAL ERROR at the same frame in my time line.

what is a GENRAL ERROR, and how can i correct this.

It sounds like you have a corrupted clip or sequence. Try taking the problem clip offline, then recapture it. Or even before that, make a new sequence and do a copy/paste of the clips in your old sequence into the new one, and see if that makes a difference.

Before you delete any media, first try pasting into a new sequence. If that doesn't work, paste the sequence into a new project file. If that doesn't work either, try dumping render files, then disconnecting the clips *without* deleting the files, and reconnect them immediately.

Also, make sure, if you have any stills, that they are all RGB. FCP doesn't like greyscale or CMYK.

Copying and pasting the timeline onto a new sequence did the trick.
