question about adult content

does the forum have a particular stance on "adult" content questions?

i have just come accross a question that ened up being (indirectly) of an adult content nature.

ive heard that being involved in the adult industry can get you permanently pigeonholed or blackballed (and no. no puns intended there) in certain arenas...

personally, i dont care one way or the other. just curious as to whether we have any formal position (again, no pun intended) on the matter...

No position. Porn is legal no matter what your position.

No pun intended.

...do a forum search. There is already a huge thread on this.

One of the editors on the TV show 24 is also credited on about two dozen Playboy videos. I don't think it makes him any less of an editor than anybody else!

It takes talent to edit adult content as well. And luckily, the narrative structure and pacing are already predetermined, and there's no need to experiment to find the ending of the film.

Hahaha! that's great.
That's the only problem with porn movies. They all have the same ending!

Playboy is soft porn...I can imagine the hard stuff landing you a spot of bother. I have been offered this kind of work and although I have nothing against it (to each their own) after watching Boogie Nights I decided against it. However, I have friends who make a good living at it and still do jobs for the BBC...

You are confusing Playboy with hardcore porn. Playboy isn't Spice Channel hardcore. Playboy is artistic "Soft Core" and would look GOOD on any edit reel. I wouldn't mind a few Playboy projects on my reel...but I will pass on "A$$masters 10 from Planet Nebulon" or "Forrest Hump".

...but that's just me smiling smiley

No, I'm not. The original question was:

> does the forum have a particular stance on "adult" content questions?

Technical crew on the sleaziest hardcore productions tend to use pseudonyms anyway.

Unless the employer has some moral stance against having anything to do with anyone having ever been connected with the Porn Industry, then chances are no one cares what you've done in the past or what you are doing in the present. They only care that you can do the job for them now and solve all their problems now.

It is probably not a good idea to put hardcore material on your reel however.

I did hear a great method for creating your personal pseudonym for porn: Use the name of your first pet as your first name and the street you grew up on as your last. Nifty.
