Importing camtasia/mov exports problem in sequence

So I've exported mov files from camtasia (on a pc) and brought them over to my mac (have done this beofre and all has worked fine in the past).
When I import them into final cut and preview the clip it looks great. When I add it to my sequence it looks blurry. Exported the clips 1024x768 so I could use bits and pieces of the screen as cut aways...
If I look at the mov file in quicktime it looks great.
Anyone have any ideas?
Tried everything (exporting it into motion, etc.)

Thanks!

1024x768? You need to prepare the picts correctly before you throw them into the timeline. Manual has good info on preparing stills or go here.

Its a bit dated but principles still apply

Thanks..they aren't pics but video tutorials we screen captured off a pc. We put them down fine in FCP (along with other dv footage). We need to cut to closeups of the footage we screen captured..thats why we exported them at the larger setting...so we could use portions of the screen for CUs...

I just can't see this ever working and you say it has? When you scale past 720x480 or so you are getting into fuzzy territory.

no, i don't believe he's scaling

think of it as he's capturing at 1024x768, and bringing it into a 720x480 timline (assentially playing at 70% of size, so he can than make a happy little podcast for you and me, or what ever he plans on doing it, for all i know, it could be a smut filled porncast (do they have these? and i so, are there any good free ones, after all us young college students don't have the time we used to have to browse and download porn)

but seriusly, I'm not sure why it's fuzzy in fcp, probably something to do with the scaling, my question is, does it look fine after export, if so, have a ball

Good catch Aaron. My math is lousy. I suspect canvas window is set to something other than fit to window? I assume you are viewing this only on your computer and not an external monitor? Sq pixels or non square pixels?

Have you tried rendering and then viewing on an external monitor?
