no timecode on DV tape...how can I capture without it?

hello, for whatever reason the dv tapes I'm trying to capture have no timecode on them. The footages plays and everything but I can't get FCP to capture the footage because it's waiting for the timecode to start before it will capture it. Any way to capture the footage without the timecode on the tape? I'm working in FCP HD 4.5.

In "Log and capture -> Capture Settings" switch to "Non-Controllable Device" and then use "Capture Now".
Another option is to copy the tapes to another recorder and then use the "normal" log and capture

I wouldn't copy the tapes to another recorder and lose a generation. Stick with Non Controllable Device and crash Capture.



When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.

If you DO copy the tapes, use a Firewire cable to connect the decks or cameras. That will avoid the generation loss, you will be making a clone.
