Lost audio from P2 files

I imported my P2 files just fine, which converted them to QT files on the hard drive. check. Play those files in QT and everything is fine, audio plays good. Import that same QT file into FCP 5.1 but there is no audio. Also interprets 1A mono which should be stereo 2 trck. It appears FCP is not reading the file correctly and I cannot find any type of import options.

The files are 720/60P if that matters. Any ideas?

thanks,
tom

the correct workflow should be:
-copy p2 files to hd
-in fcp, import/panasonic p2...make sure to point to the folder the p2 files are in rather than the files themselves
-next, you should see the p2 interface window...go select all, ok

you should then have your clips with 4 trks of audio

I just realized that I was trying to play the quicktime files on FCP 10.3.9. Quicktime 6.5 (my older system) vs. my new MacBook with the latest everything, where it was originated. THAT solved the 'problem'!

Sorry for the idiocy on my part.

thanks,
td
