Hello all, I'm new to editing, and will be editing a piece on final cut pro that would have been shot on Hvx200E or DVX100 PAL version, which apparently shoot in 720p/25 and wanted to ask what versions of Final Cut Pro HD will jive.
Also , what challenges would I face in shooting with one camera over the other in terms of workflow, and editing video and audio, and resolution quality. There will be an online edit for this project as well. I was told Hvx200 is supported in final cut 5, but is "E" pal version as well? thanks in advance
As Shane says Apple have not yet built in 720p25 support, but there is currently a workaround which works fairly well. Imagine Software who make HD Log have recently released a cheaper version specifically for the P2 workflow called P2 Log for $99.
Along with this they have built their own DVCPROHD720p50 Quicktime passthrough codec which makes it possible to work with 720p25 from the HVX200E in FCP (try and go with the latest FCP 5.1.1) There are a few issues that I have found such as strange garbled images when using Composite modes and some FXScripts, but they seem to clear up when the clip is fully rendered. Anyway check out: [www.imagineproducts.com] ...and make sure you install the passthrough codec and follow the instruction for the component removal from here: [www.imagineproducts.com] Good luck Mark Post Edited (06-25-06 14:21)
