Viewer to Canvas Problem

On my G5 dual 2.5GHz, System 10.4.7 with 4.5 GB DDR SDRAM using FCP 5

Suddenly, when I try to drop video clips or text, from the Viewer into the Canvas, instead getting to the options for placing on timeline, the option panel does not come up. I have just re-installed FCP and no change. Help please. Roger

And you checked both preferences and settings?

Sounds like it could be a corrupted Preferences problem. Simply reinstalling FCP will NOT reset corrupted preferences, so do that specifically.
