Uncompressed quicktime files for Flash application

Hi!

I am editing some short videos for a magazine - DV stuff. They are going to use them in one of their Flash applications on their web site.

Anyway, the Flash guy wants me to send him the video files as uncompressed quicktime, but how do I do this? What 'export' function do I use and what settings should I go for? Please give advice!

Ok, thanks for a great forum!

just export them as self contained at the current settings - you cant get any better than that.

Hi Wayne,

Sounds good! That would be 'export' - 'quicktime movie' right? But this creates a Final cut pro movie file, doesn't it? Will Mr. Flash be able to view it without having FCP? Will it play on a basic quicktime player or will he need to go pro?

Thanks man!

If Mr Flash wants an uncompressed file then don't choose the 8 or 10 bit FCP codecs because he won't be able to play it back unless he has FCP installed. Instead you should do an Export > Using QuickTime Conversion and set the codec to "None" which is a standard codec even on PCs.

However...if you're working in DV, there's very little point in doing an uncompressed export, so I'd just do an Export > QuickTime Movie as a self contained movie. He doesnt need FCP installed on his system - the file will just open in QuickTime Player when double clicked.
