DVCPro Capture using AJHD1200a FirewirePosted by Joe Brown
When I put it on menu I get a message saying Menu Protected. I downloaded a manual for the 1200a and tried to unprotect the menu by pressing reset while in the menu mode. Nothing. Is there a dip switch or something? Sony was always bad about making it hard to get to the extended menus, maybe panasonic is doing the same or maybe I have a bigger problem.
So you followed the instructions on pages 26 and 27 of the manual and got nothing?
How about setting it to Factory Defaults? Or can you do that with the menu protected? www.shanerosseditor.com Listen to THE EDIT BAY Podcast on iTunes [itunes.apple.com]
Here's how from the (slightly confusing, hope I got the steps right) manual
Releasing the menu protection mode Set the LOCAL/MENU/REMOTE switch to the MENU position while holding down the COUNTER button on the front panel. The unit is set to the menu setting mode, and the menu screen appears on the video monitor. Press the RESET button. The unit is now set to the default setting mode, and the default setting screen now appears on the video monitor. Press the MENU-UP button or MENU-DOWN button to move the cursor to the PROTECT position, and press the SET button. The unit is set to the menu protection setting mode, and the screen prompting the user to confirm the menu protection appears on the video monitor Press the MENU-UP button or MENU-DOWN button to move the cursor to the NO position, and press the SET button. The menu protection mode is now released
