Reveal Master Clip does not workPosted by g E I R
Sorry - tried to cut some edges... :-)
We have a large documentary i five 50 mnt. pieces, with several projects devided in to - drama - archive - interviews - and storries...etc. We are three editors and have more than one projects open at the same time... And here is the tricky part... If we use footage from another project the REVEAL MASTER CLIP does not work. There is a lot of bins that are sorted on different subjects... and if we wish to find other clips that are related to the one we work with (in the same bin) it would be nice to just click SHIFT-F to find the bin... - Is there an easy way to work around this? GwI
If you move the material from one project to another, move it to the browser first and from there edit it into the timeline. If you cut and paste from one project's timeline to another project's timeline there is no master clip in the browser to reveal. Similarly if you drag a sequence from one project to another, the contents of that sequence as no master clip in the browser. Reveal in browser will not work to another project.
dear GwI,
As Tom has indicated, "Reveal in browser" won't work if you media was not imported into the project which contains your timeline. All is not lost however. There is another feature called "reveal in finder" which will show you exactly where the clip lives at the "finder" level. Knowing that, you can then import that master clip into your project. We use your type of workflow all the time. We have many different projects for things like "B-roll", "interviews", "Scenes", and finally "Episodes". Any editor will usually have several projects open simultaneously. We're also using X-SAN (Shared storage) so we treat the entire SAN as the project. If you need a specific clip or range of clips, search for it at the finder level, and then import what you need. Hope this helps. Mark
