2944x1200 is my client totally on crack or have i missed something?

ok, i have this client who has demanded a 50 sec after effects animation in wmv format.
when i asked them why the higher than HD dimesions - they just said thats what they needed.
i aked them again, what they intended to play it back on. they just said that thats what they needed.

i told them (rather emphatically) that i had no idea what device would be able to play back a 30fps movie of this size. but as long as they were payin the bills id give them whatever they asked for...

do any of you out there have any idea what or how to play back a movie of 2944x1200 dimension?

A projector set to that rez?

but have you ever heard of a projector that can do that - outside of say george lucas' livingroom?

That is a weird resolution for projection display as well. I can see 1600x1200 uxga, even the highest resolution Qxga is 2048x1536.

That is a strange one.

damned big oilfield service companies. more money than brains!

Maybe they want to zoom in 20:1 ??

Most HD projectors will do this or close to this resolution. The projector we use at the lafpcug meetings has a gazillion settings. I imagine one of them comes close.

His aspect ratio is 2.453333. Maybe what he really wants is 2.35 anamorphic.

The only projectors I can think of that could do this resolution are the SONY 4K models...

Its a rather weird resolution to ask for though.

The Sony SRX-R110 does: 4096 x 2160, 2048 X 1080 & 1920 x 1080

I would really love to know what they are displaying it on - couldn't you ask for QC reasons - how will you know what to grade for if you don't have the details?

To answer your original question though - I think it might be LCD rather than crack, I don't think the effect of crack is to visualise large fabulous expansive things but rather to cause sensory overdose, compulsive and repetitive patterns of behaviour and eventually toxic paranoid psychosis...
