freezes on transitions during playback

I have FCPHD 4.5 on G5 and have problems with slipping randomly on cuts during playback...as well as during most dissolves and some transitions I get a little freeze at the beginning of the transition. I have had some firewire problems w/ my 4 pin port on XL1, but it captured ok. any thoughts? thanks,nick

There's probably too much work for the machine to do for correct playback. There's a couple of notes here:

Go down to the desparation method at the bottom of my page and do that. Basically make a self-contained movie and play that. That always works.
