Need help recompressing video in Media Manager

Hi,

I'm reverse engineering our post production workflow (for a 90 minute Standard Def documentary) and hope someone reading this post has experience in recompressing video.

We have about 15 hours of miniDv and another 15 hours of Digibeta footage that has been stored for about 6 years! A total of 30 hours of footage. As I see it, one option is to make clones of all the tapes and capture at DV25 for offline, and the second option is to capture everything at 10 Bit Uncompressed so that it's OFF the old tapes, backed up in about 2.5 TB.

If we go with option #2, how long would it take to recompress an hour (or 30 hours) of 10 Bit Uncompressed footage to DV25 using Media Manager? A rough estimate would be helpful!

Also, once we are done with the offline, how does one reconnect to the uncompressed footage?

Thank you in advance!

Dan

your are the best one to answer that question,
as no one else knows the specifics of your system.

re-compress one hour and time it.
or, if you have the storage,
just set it all to re-compress overnight, for a couple or few nights and you'll may be done.

another option:
go without the clone process & capture from your various formats to DV25 for offline
in the online capture from your various formats as 10bit uncompressed.
