Again for those who deal with BWF audioPosted by Andreas Kiel
As it is close to christmas I decided to give out a beta of an advanced BWF reader for free.
It will read all available metadata, juggle around with them, will give you some advices how to a handle "a file like this" with FCP 5.1.2. It also allows to save an XML which will be able to transport those metadata which are not read by FCP's direct import - but note: reel names are always overwritten with an empty value by FCP when using the direct BWF import. Here you can get it: BWF Test Reader Happy Holidays Andreas
Nice Andreas.
There was one thing that caught my eye right away. It's grayed out but the "-/+ 0%" pulldown in the User settings for audio TC sounds intriguing. Could that be a tool for fixing 24F audio for 23.976 or 30 for 29.97 or vice versa. We had a few shots on the current show where the sync boxes or the operator malfunctioned and we had noticeable drift over the long takes. I was able to sort it out in Logic but a more automated tool would be great. There is a typo in the File Values/"Samples since midnight" (it reads mignight right now) on one simple test of 23.976 file I get the yellow red striped background and a warning to use a different audio setup or quicktime conversion. more later ak Sleeplings, AWAKE!
Thanks for that. I thought I'll catch you with this ;-) The problem is that I've to change the file in those cases anyway, FCP won't allow to accept values other than the "Apple way". But I'm working on this. The app is let's say some kind of "appetizer" for the new BWF2XML, which will allow to do the the -/+ 1% percent changes and some more things. Thanks for that, I'll fix it. We stupid germans will never learn to type correct english. Normally this warning should be correct - does the "recommend field" display anything more than the "use a different audio setup or quicktime conversion" ? The app searches for all available and relevant values (if you had all the options set). So if "Digitizer Samplerate" or "Timecode Samplerate" won't match the samplerate FCP works with (i.e. "File Samplerate) you'll get this warning, same as with DF timecode. The warning may explain why you get an "out of synch" with the files you mentioned. I'll wait for that, thanks Kind regards Andreas
