composite mode keysPosted by J.Corbett
In my own experience, composite modes are touchy and don't work well with transitions, keys and masks. If I need to switch from one mode to another, I tend to have to use Opacity keyframes to transition between clips in different composite modes. If anybody else has a better idea, I'm all ears.

Duplicate the clips.
Apply a different mode to each one. Keyframe Opacity from one clip to another. This technique is in my book. Kevin Monahan Social Support Lead, DV Products Adobe Adobe After Effects Adobe Premiere Pro Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro Community Blog Follow Me on Twitter!

Yes I know of his book I just thought it should be in the body it's in my book "Motion Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro" where the uninformed would see it better. I thought he should have said where you could buy it at as well it's available in the LAFCPUG store.

Dean, Kevin's signature is about as clear as it can be. He "should" not have to do anything. Remember that the people who offer help in the forum are doing it on their own time.
