OT-MAC PRO SuperdrivePosted by Rui Barros
Hi,
Sorry for the OT but the Superdrive of my brand new Mac Pro 2,66 Ghz is longer working, does this ever happened to any of you or can someone help me? The superdrive model is PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D. Thanks Rui Barros Editor Colorist Trainer Lisbon, Portugal RTP Post-Production Apple Certified Trainer FCP 7 Apple Certified Pro FCP 7
Yes, the computer is covered by a 2 years factory warranty by the legal standarts of the European Union.
I've bought the Mac Pro less than a mounth ago and it was working without any problem. Last Tuesday i've notice that when inserting a CD or DVD in the Superdrive, the disk didn't show in the Finder. I don't remember very well but i used Software Update last week and probably that was the time when this started. Thanks John.
Not working until now, i've followed your directions and this are the messages that it shows: ATA Bus: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D: Model: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D Revision: AB09 Detachable Drive: No Protocol: ATAPI Unit Number: 0 Socket Type: Internal Low Power Polling: Yes PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D: Model: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D Revision: AB09 Detachable Drive: No Protocol: ATAPI Unit Number: 0 Socket Type: Internal Low Power Polling: Yes Is this correct? Thanks again Rui Barros Editor Colorist Trainer Lisbon, Portugal RTP Post-Production Apple Certified Trainer FCP 7 Apple Certified Pro FCP 7
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D:
Model: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D Revision: AB09 Detachable Drive: No Protocol: ATAPI Unit Number: 0 Socket Type: Internal Low Power Polling: Yes That must mean that the ATA bus is seeing the burner mechanism. When you say it doesn't work, does that mean that it can not read a CD or DVD?
Thanks for your help but the drive is dead.
After doing some tests and following your help the only thing that the drive does is open and close. Monday i will that the Mac to the IMC, we don't have the official Apple here, to fix this. Again thanks for your help. Rui Barros Editor Colorist Trainer Lisbon, Portugal RTP Post-Production Apple Certified Trainer FCP 7 Apple Certified Pro FCP 7
I had a similar problem, my Pioneer DVR111D was seemed dead after a couple of days. I'm new to the Mac so I was more than a little miffed. However, I had installed a couple of drives and although I didn't think I had done anything to the CD drive I removed and reinstalled it.
I believe the ribbon cable was not set into place as when I properly re-connected the cab;e it worked just fine. I must admit the Mac Pro is built well but you still need to check connections. Also, my drive showed correctly in the system profiler but didn't work.
Hi Chuck,
I had one drive installed on bay 2 and the superdrive was ok by that time. Later after a week or so i remember having some problems reading a DVD wich other computers didn't. The drive is gone.
