Apple releases 10.4.9 for Intel and PPC

It is advised you wait a week. Fixes a number of bugs, adds more security and improves "Audio playback in QuickTime, iTunes, Final Cut Pro, and Soundtrack applications."

Final Cut Pro 5.1: Mac Pro real-time performance with Mac OS X 10.4.9
Issue

If your Mac Pro is running Mac OS X 10.4.9, and your version of Final Cut Pro is 5.1 through 5.1.2, you may notice diminished availability of real-time playback, as compared with that observed in Mac OS X 10.4.8.

Note: This issue only affects Mac Pro computers that are running Mac OS X 10.4.9.

Solution

Update to Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 to remedy this issue.
