"8-core or quad-core Mac Pro workstation Meet the latest addition to the Mac Pro family: The world?s first 3.0GHz, 8-core Intel Xeon-based Mac Pro. Consider the bar officially raised." Finally!
Yay! But wait...
It's only available in the US store at the moment... Booo! Role on FCE and 2K/4K native editing! Ben For instant answers to more than one hundred common FCP questions, check out the LAFCPUG FAQ Wiki here : [www.lafcpug.org]
While I was working today I thought Hey maybe this is just the upgrade for Photoshop users and another machine for editors will be announced at NAB. Wishful thinking HUH? Really all it needs is those BTO options. Anyone want to carpool from Orange County to Vegas for NAB? ------------------------ Dean "When I see you floating down the gutter I'll give you a bottle of wine." At $6.5k I'd certainly be waiting for real world tests (I know, more waiting!) Justin.
hahahahaha - aussie.
Still, I don't reckon I'd jump quite so early. Have the prices of the quad/duo's come down? Would you be better off aiming lower and going duo/quad in the medium term? I think field tests will be important - just another couple of weeks and we will know more I think. Or (and I really, really really hate to say this) but is there a physical revision of these machines 6 months away? (Sorry Jude!) Right, really going to bed now! J.
Tsk. I'm going to go to my grave waiting for a new machine here.
It's the most sensible thing to do, sadly. I'm not waiting six months though. There will always be a new version on the horizon. Gotta jump sometime. Now, quickly, someone else jump for me and tell me if there's rocks or marshmallows at the bottom!
