And you didn't credit Telly with starting this all with the SFFCPUG? Dude...

Which meeting did the reporter attend? And why wasn't I mentioned?

Where's the love?

Nice work Mike! It sounded positive and supportive from the first words. Which is, of course, a true representation of the LAFCPUG you guys have built for us all. Way to get noticed. smiling smiley

Congratulations!!! I am glad you are getting the recognition for a job extremely well done. May there be many more positive articles to follow. Will you be on any famous talk shows soon?

Jerry Springer called and asked if I'd fight Koz and Jude on stage. I said sure.

Oh, I'm used to it.... ;-)

You mean the San Francisco Final Cutters?
(our original name).

Actually, I was not the only founder, just the one with the loudest voice and the last of the original 3. Two very quiet women also helped me start up at Muddy's Cafe on Valencia and 24th in the Mission Dist. of SF in Jan. or Feb. of 2000.

?Sharon Franklin (now in LA editing)
?Liza Seybold, who founded "Cinema Chicks" (now BAYWIFT) and works at Apple on Final Cut.

Our first meeting was about 20 people and held at my loft in the Mission. Michael Wohl was the speaker and we drank a LOT of beer.

I guess you could say that I am the one that got all the 2-poppers over to Ken's house to try to get ya'll to jump start a group down here. I'm all, "Who's Mike Horton?". ;-)

Probably 2 months ago, eh? Christine did a trick then, I think.

History of the FCP movement will be in the SuperMeet magazine which we are handing out Wednesday. Kev features prominently in that article. Very cool read.

They didn't mention that LAFCPUG is LA in name only - we FCP users in the hinterlands (WASHINGTON, DC in my case) couldn't have become experts without the forum's sage advisors and articles - many powered by Ken Stone's gentle pushing and prodding - yes he even talked me into writing one.

People ask all the time how a former TV correspondent became an "expert" FCP editor without taking a class - I tell them about your on line university - most can't believe you could learn this much from a web site/user group. In fact - I did .

Still do.

Congrats and thanks for the great international resource Mike!

Congrats Mike and others!

More than any other single resource, LAFCPUG has helped me over the years, and cemented my fondness for FCP. Especially when the forum went live.
