captured clip appears much shorter in FCP

We've been capturing tapes all week just fine, about 40-60 min each, and now suddenly FCP thinks that the last two full tapes are only 45s and 7min long, respectively. When I play them in Quicktime, it's obvious that the whole tape was captured, but FCP insists that they're only short files. I've tried importing them into other projects and opening them as files rather than importing, but it gives the same length. How can I make it see the whole clip?

Sorry, if it's relevant, we're using FCP 5.1.1 on a Mac G5 and capturing PAL DV from a small camera.

My boss decided to change the name of the original file, re-import it, and then we changed the names back to the originals and everything seems to appear just fine now. I wouldn't have thought of that. We're baffled.

Sometimes this adds to weird behavior- did you capture the clips using Capture Now?
