Can Light Rays filter be animated like Trap Code Shine??

I just found the glow filter (light rays in FCP 5.1.4) and was wondering whether on basic graphics you can get that Shine effect that trap code does with After effects that has the light shining from behind. I tried and failed. Cheers...
