importing .mpg files from a PC

I have been given some .mpg files on cd's that came off a pc. They want the video put on DVD's to play on a TV. I can import them to the desktop and play them fine in the qt player, video and audio. But when I try and import the file into fcp it only brings in the video, not the audio.

Any help would be appreciated.

MPG is a muxed file (audio and video merged into 1 file)

You need to separate them or wrap them up in a quicktime file.

Better still export the MPG files as M2V & AIFF (or AC3) ready to import into DVD Studio unless you need to edit them first in which case just export quicktime files in the format you are editing in.

Use MPEG Streamclip to do this its a free app from: [www.squared5.com]
