Some transitions won't render

Some transitions won't render

If anyone knows what might be causing this ... I switched to FCP 6 and some of my transitions don't seem to want to render. Orange bar above and the transition -- just some, not all -- won't render. Never saw this happen in previous version. Plenty of in and out point space, following all the transition rules.

Also, re: conversion to FCP 6, are my Favourite transitions and effects hidden somewhere that I can import them again, or are they toast? FCP 6 saved my window layouts so I'm wondering why my favourtie effects etc. aren't around somewhere.

Thanks,

Paul

I've seen this happen mostly with third party transitions you may have downloaded. Their protocals were written for fcp5.0 and now they could be outdated. Try the sites you downloaded and see if they have an updated set for v6 or simply try uninstalling and reinstalling them now that your system is running studio2.

That makes sense. It looks like the Nattress transitions don't work, although their website says they should be ok with FCP 6.

To uninstall these plugins, do I just nuke them from the library?

Thanks for the tip.

Any idea about whether my effects favourites are gone forever, or just hidden in the bowels somewhere, waiting to be reinstalled?

I wish i could help you with that, i don't usually keep favorites lists, i hope it works for you though!

favorites are stored in your preferences.

if you don't have them saved in a back up project,
they are probably gone forever after a fresh install.

it;s a bummer, and i have lost them in the past,
so now keep back up projects (that i don't always remember to keep up to date!)

it's simplicity itself:
open your faves,
select all,
copy,
create a new project,
and paste.
close and save project

if they are some really specific settings in there,
you could rescue them from previous shows where you know you used them.

cheers,
nick
