can't import aiff music files from cdPosted by maximoose
DV Creators has a How2 and also a compressor droplet for download

I personally recommend using iTunes, not Compressor or QuickTime. Because iTunes allows you to embed metadata (such as track number, artist name, album name) into the file, which can be useful for tracking and organizing the music tracks you use. For example, how to distinguish the eight versions of the same song title from a library CD.

Yea unfortunately FCP doesn't do this for you. It has been a feature request for years. I remember editing on the Media 100 10 years ago, and it did this. It would pull the file off the CD and save it to your hard drive of choice. It also allowed you to upsample to 48khz if you wanted.

That's about right. iTunes was just really getting rolling and I'll bet heavily one of the music suppliers make Apple remove it. You want our catalog, take the CD ripper out. You can import a movie DVD directly into Final Cut, right? Koz

Yes, this is so easy, even I do it regularly. iTunes menu -> preferences -> advanced -> importing -> (import using) AIFF encoder -> (setting) custom -> 48kHz Then I export to the desktop and grab it from there but there may be a better way to get it into FCP.
This is a tool from Spherico...
PLAYLIST2FCP Personally i do prefer the Compressor Droplet. After importing the tracks, i rename the folder create a bin by drag&drop to browser. Rui Barros Editor Colorist Trainer Lisbon, Portugal RTP Post-Production Apple Certified Trainer FCP 7 Apple Certified Pro FCP 7
