Compressor won't launch.

Just discovered this last night. Compressor simply will not launch either from FCP6 or off the dock by itself. Any suggestions? Running OS 10.4.10, QT 7.2.0 on a new 3GHz DC Mac Pro, 5.5gigs ram. I asked a friend who works for Apple and the same has occurred to him and even a reinstall didn't help him.
