Unintended Flash Effect

Unintended Flash Effect

Hello once again,

I have an unintended flash effect going on between two clips. Clip one is an overhead shot of a table with a purple table cloth, clip two is a wide shot of on cam talent standing in front of the table. The background is light so when I cut from the CU of the purple cloth to her with the white background it gives this undesirable flash effect. Is there anything I can try to mellow that out? A dissolve doesn't make sense here.

Thanks.

Off the top of my head you could toss on 3 way cc and keyframe the highlights/whites and bring them up over a few frames. (or down the other way) Maybe mess with hue/saturation.

hope this helps

Good idea! I'll try that.

This often happens in video when cutting from dark fields to light. Bringing the outgoing luminance up and the incoming luminance down a bit further than legal in the CC might help, and Aaron's ramp-down-then-up-to-normal idea might just do it.
