Waveform differs from sound

Hi, my colleague is using an iMac6,1 with a 24" screen and is running Final Cut Studio 2. He is editing a scene where 2 cameras are used. The waveform on the timeline does not match the sound when it is listened to. We have tried trashing the waveform cache and also the preferences and have restarted the computed each time. We have also deleted the clip from the timeline and pulled it down again from the browser. None of these attempts have made any difference. Can anybody shed any light on why this happens and how to cure it? Thank you. Marla.

Hi, Michael, It's on an external drive.

Please ignore the above. It seems he hadn't emptied the trash after trashing the preferences and the waveform caches. Now he has emptied it and the problem seems to be fixed. We still don't know which caused the problem.

Thanks for your response. Marla.
