Slide durations / Avid?

Slide durations / Avid?

Evening all, oops morning,
I am dropping a lot of stills into the timeline. They are loading into the viewer at 10 sec. I only need 6 or 7 sec. I was trying to shorten them before dropping into the timeline. Sometimes they insert properly and sometimes they don't insert at all, message "insufficient something"
Does it matter which type of insertion command I use. They are just a string of stills with no transitions preselected. Nothing else on timeline, except soundtrack but that shouldn't affect it should it?
Oh- G4 1.25g, FCP4.5, 1.7 ram, Panther if that matters

Thanks,
Rick

Avid not at NAB? Is Autodesk about to buy them??? Seems Autodesk has been on a buying spree in recent years snapping up all the effects companies. Didn't they buy Maya? Just a thought...

Lock the soundtrack, drop the stills on the timeline at whatever duration they are, then select them all at once, right or control click and choose 'duration' from the popup menu. Then set the duration you want, hit OK and they should all ripple to the correct duration.

If you don't lock the audio it might cause ripple problems.
