FCP and Mac HD memory.

Is there a certain number of GBs in Mac HD storage that I need to keep available at all times to ensure FCP will run smoothly? I currently have 13.66 GB out of 117GB available. Is this too little, or okay?

Thanks,

Try not to go under 10% of the size of any drive connected to the system. So a 200GB drive needs 20GB headroom, 500GB best to have 50GB free.

In your case you're starting to get into scaryland. There's no guarantee that things will fail, but it becomes more likely.

HD space is "storage"
RAM is "memory"

Yes, though it's also useful to bring up that Macs often get these two confused. If you start running out of storage, you might get an "Out of memory" error -- and consequently beefing up your RAM may not solve the issue.
