I cannot hear the audio

Sorry about the beginner question!

The audio does not come out from the speaker although I see the level in the audio bar. I can hear the music from iTunes from the speaker, so the speaker is set correctly. What part should I change the setting?

The first thing to check is this menu tree:

Edit > Audio Playback > Built-in Audio (that should be checked)

This will allow you to hear the audio through the Mac speaker.

Where is your video being displayed? If it is going out to an external monitor through a deck or into a camera, then you need to listen to the audio there, not on your computer, or it will be out of sync.

I selected "Built in output" under "View" but I still cannot hear it.

Check your System Preferences>Sound Control Panel and check for any setting which conflicts. You may have to experiment.

I hope you solved your problem... I just had the same one and solved it this way (I'm using FCP 6.0.2):
View>External Video

If it's not set to "off", set it to "off."
