Can I re-connect thumbnails in Timeline?

Hi:

and thanks in advance.

I did a dumb thing: I opened a FCP6 project without the external HD connected, so I quit, hooked up the drive, and re-opened. All is OK, except some of the thumbnails (maybe 10 out of 100's) in the beginning of the timeline have disappeared, and in their place is that ugly red "Media Offline", but the media is actually there. Nothing is missing but the thumbnail. Can I get them back somehow? I checked FAQ and manual, couldn't find an answer.

Thanks very much,
Richard

Ditch your Thumbnail Cache and restart FCP. That should fix things. If it doesn't work, try using Sequence Settings (APPLE-0) to turn off Thumbnails display, then turn it back on.

When a the HD for a certain project is missing and the related project defaults to open.
Backing out of the "missing HD" prompt causes missing thumbnails.
Just happened to me 5 min. ago.
So... in FCP turn off "Open Last Project" when swapping out drives.

So.. Derek... thanks for that response, trashing the cache fixed all.

I'm still learning.

Hi Derek:

thank you SO much. It worked like a charm. I really appreciate it.
