Hi:

I'm produding, and will eventually edit on FCP a country music video. We are shooting 16mm film. I would like to telecine to an HD format for importing directly into final cut. my sony dsr-11 isn't going to do the trick. ... Can someone suggest the best way (and place) to accomplish this.

DVCPRO HD is good. If they telecine to tape, you will have to rent an AJ-HD1200 or 1400 deck to capture. DVCPRO HD is a good HD compression that is easy to edit. There are other formats, like HDCAM and D5, but then you need a capture card and pricier deck rental.

You know, depending on where you go for the telecine transfer they can generally make the DVCPro files right there and put them on a drive.

That way you save the money and headache of renting a tape machine.
