i was in one of my vendors shops (they are exclusively avid) a couple days ago supervising an edit. i had mentioned something about FCP and they sorta chuckled arrogantly as if to imply "no, we dont use that silly fcp thing"
fast forward a few minutes. we get to a clip that needs some color correction. and i ask if we can address that real quick and he replies - "oh, thats going to take some time to render" and EVERY time we move an alpha channel title graphic. there is about a 12 second render window that pops up.
it was nothing special. sd ntsc dv. a/b roll, with 2 layers of graphics.
and these were the mid to higher-end avids.
i kept thinking warmly to myself "if we were at my fcp station. we'd already be done"
