quicktimes at 29.96 fps

Hello,

I am attempting to bring in some media that I have in .mp4 format into FCP. These .mp4s were created in Handbrake, off of a DVD. What I am doing is converting the .mp4 files to quicktimes (using DV NTSC compression, medium quality, 29.97 fps, keyframes automatic). What I am getting is a quicktime file that says it is playing at 29.96 fps and thus goes out of sync when I try to bring it into my 29.97 fps project.

Any ideas on how I can create a quicktime at the correct (29.97) frame rate?

Do you still have the DVD? Because I would try re-ripping the video straight to DV directly off the disc. Handbrake doesn't offer this though, you'll need to use something like MPEG Streamclip or DVDxDV. And this is a non-commercial DVD, right? winking smiley

MP4s are so heavily compressed, they're not going to upscale well no matter what you try. What you've done is squeeze your original video down to a postage stamp, and you're trying to blow it back up into a poster. Ain't gonna be pretty...
