Quicktime 7.5 - FCP 6.0.4 or both?Posted by Chuck Spaulding
I recently upgraded to QT 7.5 and FCP 6.0.4 because I was having quite a few issues with 6.0.3 which 6.0.4 seems to have corrected.
However there seems to be a significant gamma shift, when viewing the timeline in FCP it looks OK but after rendering a QT file and viewing it in the QT player it looks washed out. Probably the best way to describe it is it looks like FCP plays it with the blacks set to 0 and the QT player is playing it with blacks set to 7.5. I'm not saying that is the case, I just mention that as a point of reference. A Coincidentally a friend called yesterday with the same problem after an auto software update but he's still running 6.0.3. This appears to me like this is a QT issue. Has anyone else noticed this? For anyone who has, have you exported to tape from 6.0.4? And if so what made it to tape, the image that's played back in the QT player of the image as seen in FCP?
Make sure that you have enabled FINAL CUT PRO color compatibility in the Quicktime Preferences in the GENERAL PANE...at the bottom.

I just checked my General Settings / FCP and this is unchecked (as it has been for all times since FCP 4.5HD). I never noticed this before... what exactly would enabling this checkbox do for FCP 6.02 (as we have) Thanks
