Export edited sequence to Quicktime file

I want to export an edited sequence into a QT file to send to non FCP users. The problem is when I Export a QT Movie it becomes a FCP Movie file.

I searched this in FAQ's and tried to change the extension but that did not work.

What extension do you want the file to have? Exporting from FCP is default - .mov

No need to change the extension. Select the file in OS Finder, press APPLE-I and change "Open with" to QuickTime Player. In fact, even this step is moot, because as long as the target computer has QuickTime Player and the codec you use, the file won't show as a "Final Cut Pro movie" on that computer.

If you want the movie to be opened by QuickTime instead of FCP when you double click its icon, you must change the Open with field in the Get Info window of the finder.
