Hey All-
Exporting from FCP 6( but I had this in 5 too.) When exporting using Broadband medium ( for web upload) I get black "sidebars" on the resulting 320 X240 quicktime file. I can expand the window to lose the bars, but the window size is now 346X259. This is very consistent. Is this happening to anyone else? Suggestions? Thanks paul
The black bars aren't on the export, they're just showing because of the minimum width of the QuickTime Player window. As the video is smaller than the width it needs for the controls at the bottom, it puts black at the sides. Zoom to double size and the black bars disappear.

What Martin said could be a reason as well and probably it is.
But some codecs are interpreted as "analog" so this will cause black bars as well. Andreas Some workflow tools for FCP [www.spherico.com] TitleExchange -- juggle titles within FCS, FCPX and many other apps. [www.spherico.com]
Thank you Martin- tried it- works-
Are you saying though that even though the qt player says its displaying at 320/240 and the vid is at 320/240, the qt window is actually bigger so I get bars? and when I drag to 348/260 to lose the bars...hmmm something is still addled in my brain on that... help Paul
Yes, exactly. When you drag to a larger size, at some point the black bars aren't needed anymore because the video size is the same or larger than the width of the controls.
